THE MAP OF INFLUENCE

North by Friday is my design studio, an evolving practice shaped by experience, study, and a deep respect for how spaces function in real life.

I’m Jessica, an interior architecture student currently accepting decorating projects and consulting work while finishing my degree. Before this, I spent 14 years in global health communications, where I learned to think strategically, listen carefully, and design solutions that serve people first.

That background informs everything I do. I believe form should follow function, and that the most beautiful spaces are the ones that work effortlessly for the people who live in them. My perspective has been shaped by living on East, West, and now the ‘Third’ Coast, each place influencing how I think about space, light, and livability.

At its core, North by Friday is about creating thoughtful interiors that feel grounded, personal, and quietly enduring.

Meet Friday

She was adopted while I was living on Cape Cod, and naming her after a Kennedy pup felt like the only option.

I grew up in Northern Michigan and acknowledge how rare it is to live where people travel to reach, with our sandy beaches, reaching trees, and the dance of light on the water. There's a feeling that comes with arriving here, whether it's for a long weekend or for good. Something in you just settles.

I wanted this space to carry that feeling. And I needed a name that could also hold the reality of what I was doing; pivoting careers, figuring it out as I went, and not totally sure where I would land. Friday felt like the right companion for that. She's playful and a little strange and she doesn't overthink anything, which honestly I needed.

By Friday Studio nods playfully to the dog while honoring the feeling of finally exhaling.
